How to Make Water Exciting for Children!

If it seems like it’s impossible for you to get your child to drink water, you’re not alone. With today’s sugary drinks and milks that are on the market, and the easy access children have to these drinks, it’s no wonder that your child doesn’t want to – or refuses to – drink water. But with the body being made of over 70% water, drinking it is vital to your child’s – and your – health. More children (and adults) are dehydrated today than ever before and it’s because there are too many water substitutes that are more appealing to taste buds. Juices, sodas, and “pretend” water drinks are artificially flavored which makes water taste…well, just plain boring. So how can you get your child and entire family to want to drink more water without having to force them to do so? The answer is simpler than you think…and actually even healthier than just drinking plain water!

Add fresh berries/citrus/and or veggies to water!

Purchase a large glass pitcher, fill it with different berries, cucumbers, citrus fruits, and whatever healthy options of fruit and veggies suits your fancy, and store it in the refrigerator. Once chilled, the water will have a refreshing taste from the added goodness and surprise treats when sipped up! Not only will your child and family be properly hydrated daily, but they will get the added bonus of vitamins and antioxidants that will nourish their bodies as well.

Below are a couple of our favorite recipes:

Citrus Water: 1 orange, 1 lemon, and 1 lime, each sliced into thin slices and added to a pitcher of clean water. Keep chilled in the refrigerator.

Berry Water: ½ cup strawberries (sliced), ½ cup raspberries, ½ cup blueberries, 1 lemon (sliced) and added to a pitcher of clean water. Keep chilled in the refrigerator.

Enjoy…we know you and your entire family will!
