our philosophy

“A child’s learning environment should be safe, creative, warm and stimulating. Our approach to early childhood and elementary education is to enhance your child’s knowledge of his or her growth and learning skills in a supportive atmosphere important for individual development. Our primary goal is to provide a personal and unique experience for each child. Our main concern is to enrich the intellectual, physical, social and personal values and skills your child is now forming”.

our mission

“Our mission is to be a premier educator of early childhood and elementary education through our proven commitment to excellence in education. JFH is dedicated to supporting families we serve and to maximizing each child’s potential through self discovery. JFH offers dynamic individualized programs to develop productive citizens of the future”.

our history

The Jolly Fun House Playschool was founded in 1942 by Mabel H. Schubert who, with a degree from Northwestern University and many years of experience teaching in the Chicago Public Schools, helped pioneer preschool education in the City of Chicago.

In 1951, Georjean and Robert Schueler, as second generation owners opened their own Jolly Fun House Playschool at Winnemac and Paulina, in Chicago.  Later, Georjean and Robert moved west to the present location at 7559 W. Addison Street.  After 38 years of dedication to early childhood education, they retired.

In 1991, Gigi and Bob Bowie took over and added the school in Prospect Heights, IL.

Our belief is a child’s learning environment should be safe, creative, warm and stimulating.

At the JFH Academies, our primary goal is to provide a personal and unique experience for each child. We strive to enrich the intellectual, physical, social and personal values and skills your child is now forming.

JFH offers customized curriculum for children from early childhood through primary grades, as well as many programs for gifted students. We pride ourselves on our individualized and innovative programs for children, and our personalized approach to education made possible by small classroom sizes and the best educators in the Chicago land area.

Since 1942, our past, present, and future commitment is to provide the highest standard of educational excellence for your child, and has been the hallmark of the JFH schools.
